She was born on 5 May 1981 in Mesa, Arizona. Her parents are Jennifer and Rick. Her mother is a manager, while her father is a medical equipment sales executive. She one sibling named Christopher. When Danielle was 3 weeks old, the Fishel family moved to Yorba Linda in California and they have been staying there ever since.
When Fishel was ten year old, she was discovered through a community theater where had already acted in The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan. From here, she started doing voice over for programs and also began doing commercials, such as Barbie girl for Mattel. She also acted in two episodes of Full House as Jennifer and essayed a small role in Harry and the Hendersons. Around this time, Fishel's mother gave up her work to become her daughter's manager.
By the time Fishel turned 12 in 1993, she was known as Topanga Lawrence in Boy Meets World. Initially, ABC had planned the role to be a small one, but seeing the popularity of the character, it was made a permanent one. The character became popular because it showed an intelligent girl, who was much older mentally compared to her age. The show came to an end in the year 2000. It was only after this series came to an end that Fishel began appearing in movies. As stated previously, she acted in two National Lampoon movies and went on to act in Gamebox 1.0. She has even give her voice to an animated movie, The Chosen One.
Fishel has been gracing covers of several magazines, such as Seventeen in the December 1998 issue and GQ in the September 1997 issue. She has been on The Tyra Banks Show where she credited the Nutrisystems Diet for her astounding weight loss. However, by 2010, she regained some of the weight and informed her fans through the People magazine that she could maintain the weight.
Presently, Fishel is friendly with Ben Savage, who was her co-star in the series Boy Meets World. Previously, she was friendly with Lance Bass, who was part of "N Sync. In fact, Lance took her to her high school prom dance.
