Diana was a British royalty from birth. She was born as Diana Spencer on 1 July 1961 to Edward John Spencer and Frances Ruth Burke Roche, Viscount and Viscountess Althorp. However, while Diana was young, her parents divorced and she along with her siblings stayed with her father. Diana was educated at Riddlesworth Hall and then went to West Heath School as a boarder. Diana became Lady Diana after her father became an Earl in the year 1975.

Even as a child, Diana was shy, but she took great interest in music and dancing. She also liked children a lot. She was an average student, who was not very interested in studying. So, instead of continuing her studies, she moved to Switzerland to study at Institut Alpin Videmanette, a finishing school. After completing her studies in Switzerland, Diana returned to England and began working with kids. Later, she started teaching in the Young England School Kindergarten.

As a child, Diana used to play with Princes Andrew and Edward, when her family rented a home in the estate, which was owned by Queen Elizabeth II. It was in the year 1977 that Diana once again got to know Prince Charles, who 13 years older than her. However, the romance only blossomed much later and with the prince constantly being in the media, his courtship of Diana was always under media scrutiny. Overnight, Diana became a celebrity and everyone wanted to know more about the future queen, as the prince was the heir to the throne. Diana was always shy and did not relish the media attention, while the prince was reserved and loved gardening. They definitely made an odd couple and not just the British, but people around the world wanted to find more about the couple.

When Diana married Prince Charles on 29 July 1981, it was an event to be remembered. The marriage was aired on all television channels across the world. It was considered to be a fairy tale wedding and Diana looked shy, but beautiful in a voluminous white wedding gown. Mementos and souvenirs were made especially for the wedding, which sold like hot cakes. For many people, Diana marriage to Prince Charles was a dream-come-true. However, it was not a dream that would last forever.

Diana's first child, Prince William, was born on 21 June 1982, followed by Prince Henry on 15 September 1984. Initially, Diana was involved in her royal duties, but she was always under immense media scrutiny. However, slowly, she started pursuing her own interests and began supporting charities, working with the homeless, helping people with HIV/AIDS and children.

Slowly reports started leaking in the media that all was not well between Diana and Charles. The couple became estranged as years went by and media began reporting infidelities on both their parts. During the marriage, Diana was overwhelmed with depression and bulimia, which she spoke about later on. The couple finally decided to separate formally in December 1992 and got divorced in 1996. And, it was officially declared that Diana would no longer be addresses as Her Royal Highness. Instead she would be called, Diana, Princess of Wales.

However, the divorce seemed to have a positive effect on Diana. Soon Diana got busy with her charitable work and began traveling all over the world. But, she never neglected her sons and ensured they had a stable life and proper education. Many people began favoring Diana, and their opinion about the royal family began sliding. During the aftermath of her divorce, Diana gave a series of interviews and talked about her married life, eating disorders and affairs. While the world was shocked, they also viewed her as human and began sympathizing with her.

She was the media darling, and the paparazzi would follow her everywhere, even when she was advocating against the use of landmines. She was an international celebrity and always considered news worthy. When she got involved with an Egyptian film producer, Dodi Al-Fayed, who was also the son of Harrod's owner, it created a media frenzy. The paparazzi went berserk. There were talks of Diana marrying Dodi. However, this romance was cut short when the couple was killed in a car crash in Paris while trying to escape from paparazzi on 31 August 1997.

It is claimed that Diana survived the crash, but died due to her injuries in the hospital. Dodi and the car driver were killed instantly, but the bodyguard survived the crash, though with serious injuries. There were many claims made about the crash. Some also accused the British intelligence. However, when the French government conducted an investigation, it was revealed that the driver had been drinking prior to the crash. Many people blamed the paparazzi for their role in the crash.

The moment the world heard of Diana's death, it was shocked. The world began mourning for the untimely death and flocked to London to pay tribute to a woman, who always thought about the less privileged; a woman who the world had come to love as its own. She was just 36 years old at the time of her unexpected demise.

People from all walks of life flocked to her funeral, which was held at Westminster Abbey. Her brother gave a moving tribute to his sister which brought tears into the eyes of the people. People's heart went out to the two young sons that Diana had left behind.

Diana was laid to rest at Althorp, the Spencer family estate. However, rumors about conspiracy behind Diana's death did not still. Dodi Al-Fayed's father claimed that the British intelligence had a role to play in the death of Diana and his son, as the intelligence knew that the couple was contemplating marriage. How much of this is true, we will never know. But one thing is for sure, the day Diana died, it not only deprived her sons of their mother, the world lost the people's princess.
